Kingdom Come is the story of an older Justice League and its coming to terms with its role in society as peacekeepers. This book was written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Alex Ross. Summary of the Book The old way didn’t work anymore. It used to be that the heroes would catch the villains and put them in prison, always trusting in the system. The villains would break out time and again, killing more people. It only seemed like the better solution to just forget the system and kill the villains once and for all. When a younger, more energetic member of the Justice League named Magog listens to the people’s demand for retribution and kills villains instead of imprisoning them, the people begin calling him a hero. Disgusted, Superman retreats into seclusion after the deaths of his friends and family. He lives in the Fortress of Solitude, within the holographic illusion of a farm. After years of solitude, Wonder Woman arrives to call him back to the world of man once again, so that he can show them that there is a better way than killing those who do wrong. She asks him to begin the war with Magog that he has been avoiding, just to show mankind that humanity is his greatest superpower. However, has the Man of Steel grown soft with age? Are his allies even active any longer? And even if they are, are they any match for the unstoppable and merciless Magog?
